Deckorators Stowaway Hidden Fasteners secure grooved Deckorators decking through the side of the board, leaving the main deck surface free from visible screws. Each fastener has a preloaded screw and automatically creates a consistent 1/4-inch board gap for a neat, even finish.

Stowaway Hidden Fasteners are the concealed fixing system for grooved-edge Deckorators decking. The fastener fits into the side groove of the board and fixes to the joist below, hiding the fixing between adjacent boards.

The preloaded screw reduces handling during installation, while the fastener controls the spacing between boards. This creates consistent gaps for drainage and a clean deck surface without rows of face-fixed screws.

  • Product type: concealed deck-board fastener
  • Colour: black
  • Board compatibility: grooved-edge Deckorators decking
  • Screw: preloaded for faster installation
  • Board spacing: 1/4 inch, approximately 6.4mm
  • Finish: concealed between adjoining deck boards
  • Predrilling and countersinking through the deck-board face are not required for standard field-board installation

Use Stowaway Hidden Fasteners across the main deck area with grooved-edge Deckorators boards. The system provides an even board gap and a clean finish across the surface of the deck.

Stowaway fasteners are not a substitute for face fixing in every part of a deck. Stairs, perimeter boards, picture frames, replacement boards and other areas without access to both board grooves may require the Deckorators Pro Plug Fastening System or Deckorators colour-matched screws.

Position the first grooved board correctly and secure it using the fixing method shown in the Deckorators installation guide. Insert a Stowaway fastener into the board groove over each joist, place the next board against the fasteners and secure the preloaded screws into the joists.

Keep each board fully engaged with the fasteners as the screws are tightened. Tighten the screws firmly enough to hold the boards in position without overtightening or distorting the fastener. Continue checking board alignment throughout the installation rather than relying on the fasteners to correct an uneven subframe.
