Safe Edge Corten Steel Garden Edging System

Safe Edge Corten Steel Garden Edging System

Inner and outer views of the safe edge corten steel edging installed as a garden divider.

Safe Edge

100 mm Safe Edge

Creates a defined but relatively subtle border where the folded top remains visible without dominating the garden.

150 mm Safe Edge

Provides more presence for raised garden beds, visible landscape lines and modest changes in finished garden level.

280 mm Safe Edge

Creates a deeper and more definitive feature for larger beds and sloping gardens. It remains garden edging and is not a structural retaining wall.

Use the same height for every edging length, joining plate, internal corner and external corner in the run.

Joining Plates

Use a joining plate behind every connection between two Safe Edge lengths and between a straight length and a purpose-made corner.

The 150 mm-wide joining plate is supplied without holes. Mark its midpoint, install it to the first connection and position the plate inside the top fold to help align it. Clamp the plate and edging together before fixing through the pre-drilled holes in the edging.

Never place a peg directly at the join. Position the nearest support peg to one side so it does not interfere with the plate and fixings.

External Corner

Use a joining plate behind every connection between two Safe Edge lengths and between a straight length and a purpose-made corner.

The 150 mm-wide joining plate is supplied without holes. Mark its midpoint, install it to the first connection and position the plate inside the top fold to help align it. Clamp the plate and edging together before fixing through the pre-drilled holes in the edging.

Never place a peg directly at the join. Position the nearest support peg to one side so it does not interfere with the plate and fixings.

Internal Corner

Choose the internal corner where the smooth finished face turns into the inside or recessed corner of the garden bed or landscape area.

It uses the same 90-degree continuous fold, rear-mounted joining plates and fixing method as the external corner. It can also be adjusted slightly on site. Begin the nearest support peg approximately 500 mm from the corner.

Corten Steel Pegs

Corten pegs are the preferred support for Safe Edge because the top of the peg sits inside the fold. Position and level the pegs first, seat the Safe Edge over them, clamp the lower section and install one suitable roofing screw toward the bottom of each peg.

  • 25 x 395 mm for 100 and 150 mm edging
  • 25 x 500 mm for 280 mm edging
  • 3.0 mm-thick Corten steel
  • Peg positions are selected on site and are not pre-drilled in the edging
