Corten Steel External Corner (with a Safety Fold)
Safe Edge offers an alternative to our popular Corten Steel Garden Edging, offering a safety fold to suit high traffic areas in both domestic and commercial applications. It is still offered in 3m lengths, meaning less joins than any other system available on the market, and ultimately, a cleaner finish.
With a complete system available, including joining plates, corners, and pegs, whether you are a DIYer or Landscaper, Safe Edge is easy to install! Whilst allowing for a seamless finish, meaning the Safety Fold is maintained across the full length and corners!
Our Safe Edge: Corten Steel Garden edging comes in 3.0m lengths and is currently available in 3 sizes:
- Ex 100mm (H), 3000mm (L), 1.6mm (T)

Corten Steel Pegs: The quantity of pegs will be dependent on your application, although 4-5 stakes per length would suit most applications if recessing the edging into the ground, with additional pegs required to form curves. Fixings: Self tapping Metal roofing screws, or pre drill with pop rivets.
Joining Plates: The Safe Edge joining plates are a flat sheet approx. 150mm x 150mm. It is used for joining two lengths of edging, or joining the edging to the internal/external corners, allowing for a seamless finish along the top of your edging. The plate does not come with pre drilled holes, to allow for slight tolerances, meaning, adjustments can be made as required, to ensure the top finishing height is level. Fixings: Self tapping Metal roofing screws (Preferred), or pre drill with pop rivets. Available in approx: 100 x 150mm, 150mm x 150mm, 280 x 150mm.
Internal Corners: Internal corners maintain Safe Edge's seamless finish along the top edge, making a great option for a clean look. With no cut outs in the corners, it provides a softer, safer finish by avoiding those sharp corners. Internal Corners are approx. 90 degress, available in: 100 x 150mm, 150mm x 150mm, 280 x 150mm. Overal corner width is 300mm, the width is 150mm measured from corner to end.

What is Weathering Steel (Corten Steel)?
Weathering steel, best-known under the trademark COR-TEN steel and sometimes written without the hyphen as "Corten steel", is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the weather for several years. Perfect for creating a beautiful home without hassle.
"Weathering" means that due to their chemical compositions, these steels exhibit increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion compared to other steels. This is because the steel forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather. The corrosion-retarding effect of the protective layer is produced by the particular distribution and concentration of alloying elements in it. The layer protecting the surface develops and regenerates continuously when subjected to the influence of the weather. In other words, the steel is allowed to rust in order to form the 'protective' coating.
*Rust metals screens must be kept dry (not stacked together) until installation to avoid oxidization*.
