WoodEvo Castellated Composite Cladding gives exterior walls the look of narrow timber battens without regular sanding, oiling, sealing or painting. Each panel covers 186 mm and locks into the next, concealing the fixings and creating a consistent castellated finish.

  • 2.9, 3.6 and 4.2 metre lengths
  • 216 mm overall width with 186 mm coverage
  • 33 mm deep castellated profile
  • Concealed fixing system
  • Suitable for timber or metal sub-frames when the specified system is followed
  • BAL-29 rated when installed to the tested system requirements
  • CodeMark certified external wall cladding system
  • No regular sanding, oiling, sealing or painting
  • 12-year residential and 10-year commercial product warranty, subject to WoodEvo’s terms

Planning a feature wall or complete exterior? Contact Chippy’s to discuss the WoodEvo boards, trims and fixings available for your project. Your builder, designer or installer must confirm the final quantities and make sure the complete wall system suits the project.

Colours on a phone or computer screen can vary. View a physical sample before ordering, particularly when the cladding needs to work with roofing, windows, render, brickwork, decking or existing timber.

Slight differences in colour and grain are part of the timber-look finish. Order the complete project quantity together where possible.

Is WoodEvo Cladding CodeMark certified?

Yes. WoodEvo Castellated Cladding is CodeMark certified under Certificate CM70209. The certified system can be used as external wall cladding for Building Classes 1–10 when it is designed and installed within the certificate’s conditions and limitations.

CodeMark certification applies to the complete specified system, not the cladding board by itself. The wall design and installation must follow the current certificate, WoodEvo Design and Installation Guide and project-specific requirements.

Is WoodEvo Cladding suitable for BAL-29 projects?

WoodEvo Castellated Cladding has been tested and assessed for use up to BAL-29 when installed in accordance with the tested system requirements.

For a BAL application, the framing, sarking, joints, gaps, vents, mesh, trims and construction details must follow WoodEvo’s current technical documentation and the requirements for the project. The BAL-29 result should not be applied to a modified installation or the board alone.

Wind and weatherproofing

The certified cladding system has tested performance for weatherproofing and wind classifications up to N4, within its documented design pressures and limitations. The correct wind classification and wall design must be determined for the individual site.

Vertical and horizontal layouts

The panels can be installed vertically or horizontally. The supporting frame, cavity, drainage, flashings, expansion joints and construction details must be designed for the selected direction.

Heat and reflected sunlight

Strong heat and concentrated sunlight reflected from energy-efficient glazing can damage composite cladding. Consider barbecues, heaters, fire features and reflective windows when deciding where to use the product.

Install it as a complete cladding system

WoodEvo Cladding is installed over a suitable horizontal support system using approved screws and the specified trims. The panels lock together so the fixing channel is covered by the next board.

The following is a useful overview, not a replacement for WoodEvo’s current Installation Guide, Design and Installation Guide or the project drawings.

Before installation

  1. Confirm the wall design, panel direction, colour, trim layout and construction details.
  2. Check the wall wrap, battens, cavity, drainage, flashings and openings against the specified system.
  3. Store the panels flat and protect them from impacts, dirt and nearby building work.
  4. Lay out the boards and check colour and grain before cutting.
  5. Square each end by removing at least one saw-blade width before installation.
  6. Do not mark the surface with coloured pens, oil pens or chalk lines.

Installing the panels

  1. Keep the horizontal supports below 500 mm centres.
  2. Use at least three support rails for every panel, including short cut pieces.
  3. Install the starting trim or first panel straight and level.
  4. Pre-drill the grooved fixing channel with a 5 mm drill bit.
  5. Use one approved WoodEvo screw at every rail.
  6. Lock the straight edge of the next panel into the fixed grooved edge.
  7. Continue across the wall, checking alignment as you go.
  8. Follow WoodEvo’s specified gaps, trims and details at corners, ends, openings and butt joints.

Approved fixings

  • Timber sub-frame: WoodEvo 7g × 32 mm, 304 stainless steel screw
  • Metal sub-frame: WoodEvo 7g × 32 mm, 410 stainless steel screw
  • Pre-drilling: 5 mm through the grooved fixing channel
  • Fixing frequency: one screw per support rail

Do not install the panels with nails or a nail gun. Doing so can damage the panel and void the warranty.

Corners and finishing trims

Matching trims are available for starting and finishing runs, internal and external corners and board joints. Plan these components before calculating the cladding quantity; they are part of the installation, not decorative extras to choose at the end.
Always begin an external corner at the corner and work away from it. For an internal corner, work from the outside point towards the recess and maintain the required 3 mm clearance.

Cutting and site protection

Standard woodworking tools can be used with a suitable sharp blade. Support the panel while cutting and use the appropriate safety equipment.

Do not cut, drill or grind metal near installed cladding. Hot metal filings can embed in and damage the surface. Do not cover the cladding with rubber or plastic sheeting; use a breathable covering such as natural-fibre canvas.

Does WoodEvo Cladding need painting or sealing?

No regular painting, oiling or sealing is required. Clean the cladding from time to time and follow WoodEvo’s care instructions.

How should it be cleaned?

Use gentle soap and water for regular cleaning. For more stubborn marks, use diluted white vinegar in water. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvent-based chemicals.

Can I use a pressure washer?

Yes. A pressure washer up to 1,400 psi can be used. Select a wide spray setting, keep the nozzle a safe distance from the surface and avoid a concentrated jet.

What coverage does one panel provide?

Each panel is 216 mm wide and provides 186 mm of installed coverage once joined to the next panel.

What is the maximum support spacing?

Horizontal supports must be spaced at less than 500 mm centres. Every cladding panel also needs at least three support rails.

Can it be fixed to timber and metal frames?

Yes, using the WoodEvo fixing specified for the selected sub-frame and following the complete installation system.

Can it be installed with a nail gun?

No. WoodEvo specifically states that nails and nail guns must not be used because they can compromise the panel and void the warranty.

What warranty applies?

The cladding system is covered by a 12-year residential product warranty and a 10-year commercial product warranty from the original purchase date. Coverage is subject to WoodEvo’s complete warranty conditions, correct installation and use, and proof of purchase.

Is it suitable for every BAL-29 project?

Not automatically. The BAL-29 assessment applies when the complete wall is built to the tested system requirements. The designer or building professional must confirm the project-specific construction details.

Can I view a sample at Clayton?
